The new year came with an old challenge. Write an opera. Progress got me through an outline as of mid-month. Now I am fleshing out detail for Act I and finding myself lost in memory and the romance of solitude. I was told to pursue writing operas for a lifetime whether they are in a classical format or something of my own invention. Bottomline? Write. Drama for one is where my creativity dwells as well as poetry and posts that will show up at this blog over the coming months.
As for visual pursuits, works came to a grinding halt. As a result with quilting I am not competing this year in the Dallas show. IQA is a thought, but I dare not predict that far in advance. One of the reasons I am shifting gears is that on the tail end of hand quilting, I have bruised my thumb and pulled it out of joint. Since before the new year I started letting the needle and brush stray to the side. I hand wrote for two weeks, but even that has its limits. With supportive gloves on, typing is a new discovery. I recognized this is the same thing I went through for three years working this last quilt by hand. Notably it remains unfinished. I plan to continue hand work, but it may be a forgone conclusion without rest and varied activity.
As of now, hopeful isn't it. Patience is it.
As ever, stay hungry and curious,
