Meanwhile, I'm diggin deep on the terra cotta color and plan on pairing it with a gunmetal bluish grey. Shrinkage not with standing I should have success after they dry and the comes securing the form. I wish I had a kiln and clay to mold and play most of the day, but this is a much simpler body and gives me a chance to work out the complexities to be refinements. I think of the last row and am reminded of a tribe in Africa. The first wife wears a similar shaped ornament around her neck to signify her power and status in the family. The real thing may be made of metal and not clay. I am tempted to purchase the book again. It is long gone in the annals of 1/2 price history. What room I have for book now sits on an imaginary shelf wrapped around my room at 1.5 feet drop from the ceiling. Again a stolen idea from the realm of Precious Moments in a collector's home.
My forms are also inspired from an installation I gawked at from a distance. If my memory serves me correctly the wall was covered in a hundred or so of thee tiny clay construction. Small curves and tiny holes all engendering thoughts of a wee person's laboratory. Intriguing every little one all set at the best angle. When I come across a sketch or two that jogs my memory, I'll revisit the subject.
Got an email from Sandy at Quilt Country. They love my entry for the auction. I am thrilled. Today is made.
